Helping feed those who are hungry
Tewksbury » Lowell Five Bank employees have chosen the Merrimack Valley Food Bank to receive their second quarter Lowell Five Employee Charitable Giving Award.
Each year, Lowell Five Bank’s employees choose four charitable organizations from a list of employee- elected nominees to be the recipients of a quarterly Employee Charitable Giving Award.
The Merrimack Valley Food Bank helps to supply 131 food pantries, shelters and meal programs in 47 cities and towns throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
These emergency food programs in both states, in turn, serve nearly 70,000 low- income and homeless individuals each month.
The award of $ 9,250 is comprised of the total employee elected charitable payroll contribution for the financial quarter matched 100% by Lowell Five Bank. In addition to the award, Lowell Five employees held a food drive and raffle to collect and purchase just under 13,000 pounds of food items to donate to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank during an employee food drive.
